The Mount Pleasant is an art-deco style town bungalow situated in its own walled grounds just three minutes walk from the centre of Bandarawela. It was formerly known as the Chinese Union Hotel when it was run by a Chinese settler and his Sri Lankan wife and their family and was very popular with residents for genuine Chinese food.

Although it has been remodelled by the owning company, Seza Leisure Ltd, The Mount Pleasant retains the tradition of top quality Chinese food either to enjoy in its, restaurant or as a take-away.

This single storey bungalow is approached through a front garden car park with entrance into a reception room with a lounge for visitors. An upright piano acts as a room divider between the lounge and the dining room with several tables for residents and walk-in customers who come for the traditional Chinese cuisine.

There are two triple rooms with a double and a single bed, and two double rooms. All have solid wooden period furniture, quality linen, pillows and towels, tiled and carpeted floors, flat screen television and tea/coffee maker. Bathrooms are newly remodelled and have rain showers with hot and cold water.
